The Annual Clitheroe Book Fair has been held at St Mary’s Centre, opposite the medieval parish church, since 1985 and is popular with collectors, dealers, and readers alike from all over the north-west who come to buy rare, collectable, or just plain old books maps and prints offered by sellers from near and quite afar. There is plenty of parking nearby, and refreshments/ light snacks are available in the cafe, including the mother-in-law’s renowned chocolate cake! However, do not just come for the fair. Clitheroe provides a great day out for all the family in the beautiful Ribble Valley. Visit the Norman castle, Cowman’s world famous sausage shop, the amazing wine cellar at Byrne’s, or Dawson’s proper general store where you will find everything you need and much you never knew existed.
